The media and the pundits have focused on one small part of Sen. Clinton's plan to reign in the outrageous cost of gasoline. Her proposal for a gas tax holiday over the summer has been met with derision as pandering. The media should perhaps do their homework and report the full proposal to the voters.
Sen. Clinton's full proposal addresses the CAUSES of the ridiculous cost of gas at the pump. Here is the link to the press release http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/relea

The following is a quote from the Clinton campaign press release yesterday.
The fathers of the revolution were much acquainted with the dangers of misguided loyalty. I find Samuel Adam's writing applicable to the call for party unity resounding from those who "derive their powers from us to serve the common interests."
As a long time Democratic voter I hear the hue and cry of Pelosi and Dean and wonder if they truly have the good of the "party" OR the people in mind. What is their true intent? Where are they trying to lead us?? Are we, as voters, to pay homage to "the party" at the expense of our country? Will we allow ourselves to be dependent on, submissive to, "the instrument of our ruin?"
Surely in their efforts to stop the primary process and bar the votes of millions they have become in Mr. Adams words, rebels against the undoubted rights and liberties of the people. There is in the higher ranks of the party a demand that we stop examining the candidate they so inexplicably are trying to foist on us. They are asking us to place our loyalty in the party; the same party that is blocking the votes of millions of people and trying desperately to stifle the votes of millions more by calling for the candidate who has the support of half the party to concede, to withdraw!
Thomas Paine had some words of wisdom that are applicable to the current dismal state of affairs in the Democratic Party. Mr. Paine penned his words of "Common Sense" for a different time and his warning rings true today.
The few are manipulating the many and as Mr. Paine warned, it is to their own benefit not the benefit of those they were elected to represent.I quote Mr. Paine here -
"In a former page I likewise mentioned the necessity of a large and equal representation; and there is no political matter which more deserves our attention. A small number of electors, or a small number of representatives, are equally dangerous. But if the number of the representatives be not only small, but unequal, the danger is increased. As an instance of this, I mention the following; when the Associators petition was before the House of Assembly of Pennsylvania; twenty-eight members only were present, all the Bucks County members, being eight, voted against it, and had seven of the Chester members done the same, this whole province had been governed by two counties only, and this danger it is always exposed to. The unwarrantable stretch likewise, which that house made in their last sitting, to gain an undue authority over the delegates of that province, ought to warn the people at large, how they trust power out of their own hands. A set of instructions for the Delegates were put together, which in point of sense and business would have dishonored a school-boy, and after being approved by a few, a very few without doors, were carried into the house, and there passed in behalf of the whole colony; whereas, did the whole colony know, with what ill-will that House hath entered on some necessary public measures, they would not hesitate a moment to think them unworthy of such a trust."
I have been very curious as to why nobody seems able to locate a copy of "The Trumpet" containing the eulogy for Asa Hilliard written and delivered by Jeremiah Wright. The media has been quoting parts of the eulogy noting that Pastor Wright calls Italians "garlic-nosed" and giving references to "lynching" Italian style.
In an effort to be fair minded and read the whole sermon, I went to Googling the "Trumpet." HM MM, very strange, all issues have disappeared from the Internet. As another writer, I think it was Flea Flicker, (apologies to the writer if it was not Flea Flicker, get with me and I will give you credit) pointed out in another publication, not an easy task to just make things disappear from the Net. I did find a cached version of the Nov-Dec issue, with the first page of the eulogy. It continued on page thirty, which was not cached.
Now I was getting REALLY curious. What was in this eulogy that could be so inflammatory as to cause it to be eliminated (is suppressed to strong a word?) When you follow the link to the Trumpet, you get re-directed to another page. Not willing to give up, I continued searching.
Those who have read my previous posts know my son and daughter-in-law are active duty military. I also have a nephew who is in the rserves and a sister who is a veteran. (Uncles who served in WWII- long history of service to America in our family as in many households in this great land.) Hillary has great plans for honoring our committment to those who have valiantly served our country. I post here just a part of her plans for our service men and women.
"Enact a GI Bill of Rights for the Twenty-First Century. Hillary will enact a GI Bill of Rights for the 21st century that will resurrect the spirit of the original 1944 GI Bill and offer service members, veterans and their families with expanded education, housing and entrepreneurial benefits. Her plan will guarantee equal access for all components of the Armed Forces - Active, Guard and Reserve - that have deployed overseas in support of a combat operation since September 11 or served two years of active duty since September 11. She will fund undergraduate education for service members, as well as education for specialized trade or technical training, and certification and licensing programs. She will expand the VA Home Loan Guaranty program to allow veterans to use low-interest, no-fee loans to purchase, build or improve a home valued up to $625,000. She will establish a Veterans Microloan Program to provide veterans with no-collateral, low-interest microloans of up to $100,000 for entrepreneurial ventures."

From my reading, I see a pattern that the Obama supporters are using. A pattern learned from their candidate. When presented with truth, criticize the speaker, bring up another subject, deflect criticism of their faulty candidate at all costs. Lie, spread propaganda stating Hillary can not win so she should drop out. Scream the will of the people, but not all the people, only those who agree with your candidate. Count all the votes, but not the ones In FL or MI or the states who have not yet voted.
Attack the diarist, attack hillary, attack Bill. In very few replies to posts do I see actual debate of the issue presented. It is all insults and bullying designed to get off the topic of the diary, to drag us away from criticism of their candidate, to deflect any investigation of the Obama myth.
So I offer a suggestion my mother offered to me when dealing with bullies. Ignore them and they will go away. They feed on it and they love it when we respond. Let's take away their fun and just ignore any comment or reply that is not on topic. Then maybe they will go back to whatever dark hole they live in and continue their self-destruct.
Some of the respondents to my earlier post seem to have missed the point; suggesting I should listen to the whole sermon or read "the speech."
Let me be very clear and go back again to how I was raised. When I went to high school there were still required classes. Every student went through a set of classes that were considered necessary to your ability to go out into the world as a responsible citizen. One of those classes was CIVICS! A required class sadly missing from most high school curriculums today.
In civics class we were taught how local, state and national politcs worked. How to research the candidates and come to an informed decision. (Much more difficult in those days- no internet; you actually had to go to the trouble of reading the newspaper and writing to candidates to get their policy proposals.) We did have the advantage of reporters who actually reported news! Who did their homework and reported to the citizens the results of their research, not the scandal of the moment.
As a result of taking civics I, and many other "typical Americans," learned it was our duty to cast our vote for a candidate on the issues. We investigate, we research, we decide. Long ago I looked at all the candidates. I looked at the candidate's Senate voting records; Sen. Obama's was almost identical to Sen. Clinton's. In the course of my research I went to the candidates web pages to read their postion statements. His proposals on the issues that matter, health care, the economy, the war, again, very close to Clinton's.
A little background first- I was born on the Fourth of July (capitalized on purpose.) My birthday celebration was, and still is, always tied up in the celebration of our country's birth. From the time I was a child it was instilled in me that it was an HONOR to share my birthday with my country. My grandmother came here from Scotland and thanked God every day for the wonderful country that accepted her and allowed her to STRIVE for a better life for her children. My grandfather, a jewish man, came here from England; his family having escaped from Prussia. He too was grateful for the opportunity he found in this country. I am an AMERICAN! My grandparents were proud to be here and they taught us to be proud Americans. They taught us we should be grateful we live in this country where no matter how poor we are, we are still far better off than citizens of any other country. They taught us to sing, with meaning, "God Bless America, Land that I love."
My best friend growing up was a girl of mixed race. We had 163 children on our street (we took a census of our own one year.) Not one family had a problem with their children playing together. We were all just the children of the neighborhood. All children were welcome in every home and business establishment so long as we behaved and used our manners. We were in Scouts together, went to school and church together, played together and learned we were priviledged to be Americans. Not Irish Americans, or Jewish Ameircnas, or African Americans or Italian, Scottish or German Americans- just Americans!
Today, I am an angry American. I am weeping for my country. My son is serving in the Armed Forces, proudly! He too was taught that it is an honor and a priviledge to be an American. Last week, the media finally exposed a presidential candidates association with a lunatic who rages "G-D America." And this presidential candidate's supporters are OK with that, want to justify such horrible hateful language. This candidate's pastor, mentor and spiritual advisor wants to call my country and its Armed Forces murderers!
